Particularly in the dental products sector the high-grade raw materials of the Quarzwerke Group play an important role due to their consistently high quality. The cristobalite-based types SIKRON® SF 3000, 6000 and 8000 and their SILBOND® variants, which are surface-treated with suitable silanes, are used preferentially in the silicones for dental impression composites. The selection of suitable fillers enables a very high degree of filler content with an acceptable viscosity of the impression compounds. As a result of this, maximum precision of the impression can be accomplished by minimizing the reaction shrinkage. The very white cristobalite allows excellent pigmentability and the desired elasticity and Shore hardness of the impression compound.
Perfect raw material quality
It must be emphasized that all quartz and cristobalite micronized powders mentioned here contain a very low proportion of coarse particles. The silicone polymers reinforced by SIKRON® and SILBOND® are characterized by the following properties:
- Adjustable elasticity and Shore hardness
- Adjustable thermal expansion
- Very good pigmentability
- Reduced reaction shrinkage
A new class of fillers for dental compositesfor dental composites
Resin-based composites are aesthetic and are widely used in comparison to conventional materials, such as amalgam. Another advantage is that composites can be made in a multitude of true to life shades and are almost indiscernible in the case of restored teeth. In addition, dental composites reinforce the natural teeth, because they adhere very well to the tooth surface. In addition to good physical properties, like bending strength and hardness, MICROSPAR® products have the following advantages:
- Good hardening depth
- Low shrinkage
- Excellent workability even with high filler contents
- High transparency
- Easy to smooth and polish
